As a result they can take on some of their disciples or even others who they wish to heal, and their difficulties. In taking this on, the most common, of course, is physical attributes. But, they can take on all kinds of issues: intent being they are going to help their students get a leg up, get a jumpstart, get a good beginning on it. This of course, is very simple. An individual is in a position of lovingly but very consciously taking on something at a symbolic level that relates to the issue at hand.
You are doing something yourself in this way. There are many who do this in the physical world on a daily basis, not as gurus or teachers, they are unconscious of this. Most commonly you'll see this in the medical profession, many of the helping professions, many aspects where people work for the homeless or to feed the hungry beyond what would seem reasonable and appropriate for their own personality. They are doing this out of an activity that is going to assist others because they know it will be helpful. Not because it is balancing and assisting them which is usually how they get into it in the first place.
In a sense, karmic dispensation as a technique, as that which is observed in different ways is obsolete. Main reason being that the teaching associated with most gurus at this current time tends to create by its very nature some degree of dependence. Thus, you are trying to do it like your guru, that would be transference, as in the psychiatric sense you are depending on their words to guide your life; some attribute of addiction perhaps.
But in any of these, of course, you are simply then creating a new karma, another issue for the person to deal with. It is possible of course to produce karmic dispensation at a distance and here again obsolete. What benefit is it? Yes, at the level of consolation it helps. But, because the person doesn't realize it there isn't enough clarification. They are either going to depend on this or suffer as a result.
There is a sort of in between that has been widely practiced by Tibetans for many centuries. This technique is one that has been utilized in healing areas, some northern Chinese also have worked with this in various aspects of Taoist teachings or martial arts. In this technique healing is done in which the karma is so well understood by the healer, teacher, guru etc. that it can be encapsulated, it is brought into their body but held in such a way that the body is not affected negatively. Thus, they do not have to do very much energetically to hold the karma, essentially keeping it away from the person thus enabling them to heal.
This is most typically done in areas where it is most dramatic with physical ailments, with the one intriguing aspect that when that person doing all of this great healing dies, when the Tibetan monk, or the Taoist martial artist dies, suddenly everyone who they healed gets their disease back. This has the wonderful feature of proving to them that a remarkable thing occurred. Karma is real, the aspect of the consciousness associated with their teacher was trying to tell them something. There is something to learn from it, etc. Thus, pushing them very hard almost violently and forcefully into greater clarification. Why is this happening? What does it mean? How do I understand my reality differently? If they can change my karma, can I change it? etc.
These can be powerful questions that will often show up for people if they survive. Since, of course in some cases it could be a very deadly or difficult disease that has a rapid onset that comes from this. But, for most this will come a little slower, very deliberately so then slowly it will then come into their consciousness about all of this as the disease progresses.
